Pigmentation Treatments

Pigmentation can start from a young age, and  can leave your skin feeling blotchy or uneven. As soon as we are exposed to any form of UVA/UVB and HEV rays, we may develop marks of pigmentation on the skin surface.  (HEV is admitted from sunlight exposure and even phone/computer & tv screens.)

But other reasons for pigment marks to occur are listed below :

  • Medical conditions
  • Pregnancy
  • Hormonal conditions
  • Genetics
  • Skin inflammation
  • Reactions to drugs – including medications

When treating pigmentation, it is important to know your full medical history and some family history and before treating. We may also ask you to have certain lesions checked by a doctor prior to treatment.

The laser works by heating up the pigmentation and breaking it up into particles. It is then drawn to the surface, where it often goes darker, crusts up and then flakes off over a period of a few days.

1 - 3 treatments are recommended over 4 - 6 weeks apart, to achieve smooth clear skin.  Anywhere on the body can be treated
